Family Bush Craft Skills

...and you don't have to be staying with us either !

Bushcraft is about creating powerful and empowered relationships with our natural world. Through learning the traditional skills that people have used since the beginning of time, we not only connect ourselves with our own history but we can develop a deeper, more respectful and exciting relationship with the Earth. You don't have to be Ray Mears, this is about learning more about your environment here in the UK.

More bush craft courses, we are running a family bush craft skills day every Monday during the Summer Holidays for up to 12 -15 people.  This will include an introduction to fire making by different methods including making a fire by friction with a drill and bow set, flints and other methods too.  We will also be introducing cordage making, glue making and a “leave no trace” workshop.  Lunch will be included with either fresh Mackerel or local landed lobster or crab. (Subject to weather and materials availability.

Knife craft

We will be providing knife/axe craft skill courses by request one to one or offered in small groups on an ad-hoc basis where you can learn to use a knife and or axe safely.  Develop new skills and be introduced to some techniques that you will find useful.  There will be the opportunity to learn how to sharpen and care for these tools as well as have ago at some projects.  Projects can include spoon or spork making, or even mugs, small bowls , free carving and fire side whittling.

Camp fires

There is nothing better than getting back to nature, to be sitting with friends and loved ones around a campfire under a starry sky.
We think having a campfire is an important part of the experience of camping and we actively encourage safe fire camping practices. Please keep fires small and contained in the prepared fire places.

Firewood is provided as part of the cost of the pitch, we have no hidden “extras”. In very dry conditions we reserve the right to prohibit camp fires in the interest of safety.

We also provide some pots and pans for use directly on the fire, however there is not enough for everyone so please bring your own if you think you'll be cooking alot on a open fire whilst you are here.
